March 31 the day of Azerbaijani genocide

Atrocities committed by Armenians with the leadership of Dashnak party against Azerbaijanis go all the way back to 1905.

In 1905, the Armenian Dashnak party, taking advantage of the Russo-Japanese War, attacked the Capital Baku, burned and destroyed more than 300 cities and villages, killed  thousands of Azerbaijani civilians, and raped many women. In the Azerbaijani city of Quba, Armenians massacred many Azerbaijani Jews who made up half of the population of this city.

In 1914, at the beginning of the World War I, Russians armed Dashnak Armenians and positioned them in Azerbaijani and Turkish borders to attack Turks from its Eastern borders. In 1915, these forces, with the help of Russians, attacked the Ottoman Empire and destroyed many cities and villages. The Ottoman army defeated them and relocated some to Syria and Lebanon. Remaining armed Dashnak Armenian groups, lead by Morshimon and supported by Russians, occupied the South Azerbaijani city of Urumiye.

On March 16, 1917, Morshimon entered a negotiation with a Kurdish leader Ismail Simitko to find an ally, but at the end of the meeting Simitko killed Morshimon. News of his death reached Urumiye on March 18th. Armenians asked their priests for religious permission to avenge Morshimon’s death and Armenian priests gave consent for 12 hours of killing. Azerbaijani historians, Motamedolvizareh, Tofiq and Dehqan, were eye witnesses to these massacres and wrote details in their daily journals. The daily notes and writings of historian Ahmad Kasravi says that in these 12 hours more than 10,000 Azerbaijanis were killed by Armenians. Tofiq mentions that there were also Jews living in Urmiyeh at the time and Armenians did not even spare the Jews.

Motamedolvizareh states in his book that half of the population, 350,000, were killed and the city was laid to ruin.

At the same time, under the Armenian command of Andranik, the cities of Khoy and salmas were attacked women raped and Azerbaijanis massacred.

In addition to Azerbaijani cities of Urumiye, Khoy, Salmas, Maki, Nakhjivan, Baku, Quba, Genja, Shamakhi, hundreds of other cities and villages fell into Dashnak Armenians fascist atrocities and were razed to the ground.

we should also add that Dashnak Armenians conducted terrorism in North America and Europe, for instance in the capital of Canada, Ottawa, Armenian terrorists assassinated the Turkish ambassador to Canada and his Canadian bodyguard.

Whenever Dashnak Armenians have had the chance, they have committed unimaginable atrocities against innocent Azerbaijani civilians and occupied Azerbaijani territories. During the leadership of Joseph Stalin, Nakhjivan was geographically cut off fromAzerbaijan by taking Zengezur and including it within Armenia.  The same thing was going to be done with karabakh during the leadership of Mikhail Gorbachev but this plan was not completed. When Azerbaijan was separated from the USSR, with the help of soviet forces, Armenians occupied Azerbaijani land and massacred thousands of civilians. The Khojali massacre is one of the examples of Armenian atrocities.

In 1993, the United Nations Security Council condemned the Armenian invasion and occupation of Azerbaijani land and adopted resolutions 822, 853, 874, and 884 on the Armenian-Azerbaijani occupation. These resolutions resolutely demanded the immediate, full, and unconditional withdrawal of Armenian forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. However, these demands of theSecurity Council have been ignored by the government of Armenia and to this day 20% of Azerbaijani land is occupied and over 1,000,000 refugees created.

Through this, the south Azerbaijani independence party would like to bring international organizations attention to the fact that to bring peace to the world the events such as these should be treated with fairness and justice. If today the United Nations can repel the Syrian army from Lebanon within two weeks then why haven’t the Armenians repelled from Azerbaijani territories in the last 15 years? If they can repel the Iraqi army from Kuwait in two weeks then why haven’t they done the same with Armenia? What is the reason behind this double standard and not treating this situation with justice?

We are asking for the United Nations to use the same sense of seriousness with the Armenian occupation of Azerbaijan as it used with the Kuwaiti or Lebanese occupations.

We are asking for the implementation of resolutions 822, 853, 874, and 884 and establishment of March 31 as the day to recognize the genocide of Azerbaijanis.
